Fire Sprinklers

Independent Australian editorial on fire sprinkler systems, installation and compliance.

Editorial standards

These rules apply to staff pieces and to anything accepted through write for us. They exist because fire-protection writing that overclaims can become someone's bad specification.

Sources

Prefer the current National Construction Code, the AS 2118 and AS 1851 series, ABCB regulatory impact material, Fire Protection Association Australia specifications, and published guidance from state fire services. Secondary blogs are not sources. If a cost is given, it is labelled as an indicative Australian range, not a quote.

Independence

We do not accept payment to rank contractors. A guest or sponsored link is disclosed with rel="sponsored" on the anchor. Product names appear when they are needed to explain a system type, not as an endorsement.

Voice

Australian English. Specific over dramatic. We do not write as if a sprinkler system makes a building fireproof, and we do not repeat the film trope that every head operates at once. See homes and apartments and standards for the tone we want.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected in the article and noted on request. Send the URL, the sentence and the source via contact. We update the "updated" date when the substance changes.

Images

Photographs are Creative Commons or public domain, self-hosted, and credited on the page and on image credits. We do not use stock that pretends to be an Australian pump room when it is not.

What we will not publish

Instructions intended to disable, defeat or conceal a required fire system. Personal data about a specific occupied building. Claims that a performance solution is "approved" when it has not been.
